From the workshop

How it is made

Poured by hand in Jingdezhen in batches of forty. The amber glass is thick enough to keep the wax cool at the edges, and plain enough to use again as a cup for brushes, spoons, or the last of the evening wine.

Hearth No. 1 is the candle we return to at the end of a day: blood orange pressed against black pepper, then a long, low drift of cedar smoke and dried tobacco. It does not fill a room so much as settle into it.

Every piece is checked by hand before it is wrapped. Small variations in glaze, wax colour, and glass tone are part of the batch, not a fault.
